Start saving your broken or obsolete electronics for the next annual e-waste recycling event.

What is E-Waste?  Used, broken or obsolete electronic equipment, such as computers, printers, cellular phones, TVs, cameras, electric appliances and any device that has electronic components.

Why should we recycle electronics?    Electronic waste has become a serious concern as a growing number of electronic products are discarded in landfills every year. Electronics contain toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury that can leach out into the soil, damage the environment and create health risks.  The problem is further compounded because many of the elements used in the construction of consumer electronics are quite valuable, leading some companies to attempt to recover them from abandoned electronics, and discard unwanted parts in a manner which is unsafe.

What is the solution?  With your help, Lake County Solid Waste is collecting electronic waste once per year, and pays a certified electronics recycler to properly dispose of the products.  We hope to see you there!
